4-Acre Brush Fire Reported Near Lower Saucon Road, Apple Street

Crews are fighting a brush a four-acre brush fire in eastern Lower Saucon Township as of 1:45 p.m. Monday.

A structure fire was also reported, but later reports indicated that it had been knocked down. An eyewitness said the building may have been a garage with Corvettes inside it.

According to information posted on the Newsworking Facebook page, the three-alarm brush fire is burning near Lower Saucon Road and Apple Street and “moving fast.”

Firefighters have reportedly asked the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for an air drop to help battle the blaze.

Crews from Southeastern, Dewey Fire Co. No. 1 (Hellertown), Se-Wy-Co, Nancy Run, Springtown, Riegelsville, Coopersburg and Upper Saucon Township are reportedly at the scene.

Along with firetrucks, specialized all-terrain vehicles and ambulances have also been dispatched.

Windy conditions combined with an abundance of dry fine fuels on the ground and low humidity mean there is an enhanced risk of wildfires in the area today, the National Weather Service warned in a special statement.
