Lower Saucon Township Police issued a statement about Monday’s fatal car wreck in the 2200 block of Wassergass Road Tuesday afternoon, and it essentially confirms what witnesses have been reporting since the accident occurred.
According to police, eyewitness statements were that Quinton Gehman, 19, of the first block of S. Fifth Street, Frenchtown, N.J., “attempted to pass several vehicles on the left at a blind turn” near Petran Lane shortly after 5:15 p.m.
What followed was a head-on collision between Gehman’s white Prius and a minivan driven by Bruce Rosenberger, 60, of Birch Road, Hellertown.
Gehman was pronounced dead at the scene of the violent crash by Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek, and Rosenberger “had to be mechanically freed from his vehicle,” after which he was taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital for treatment, police said.
Since the crash, some commenters on Saucon Source’s Facebook page have expressed concerns about speeding cars and the prevalence of illegal passing on Wassergass Road, which is narrow and twisty in areas.
