The Saucon Valley Panther Golf Team entered the Colonial League Tournament at Bethlehem Golf Club today as the fourth seed but left finishing second behind Moravian Academy (412). It was a great team effort that put the Panthers ahead of Northwestern Lehigh and Southern Lehigh. During the regular season both Northwestern Lehigh and Southern Lehigh beat the Panthers.
Leading the way was senior Thomas Coakley with a 77. Coakley just missed a putt on the 18th hole to push a tie break with Moravian Academy’s Drew Warner. Warner finished with 76.
Saucon combined their best five scores to finish with an overall team score of 423. Helping Coakley’s cause were senior Brendan Gerts (83), sophomore Justin Kyra (86), senior Sophia Israel (87) and junior Gage Stelzer (90).
Senior Sophia Israel (87) had the low score for the girls and is now a three-time Colonial League golf champion. Panther freshman Kennedy Morgan was good enough to earn bronze, finishing third for the girls.
Brendan Gertz (83) shot a solid round this day to finish 7th overall.
Austin Till (100), Thomas Gallagher (107) and Robert Mateff (112) played the supporting cast in today’s championship tournament. All are underclassmen and will be back next year!
Congratulations to Coach Scott Roberts and his Saucon Valley squad. As a team the Panthers stepped up and made it an incredible day.
Great job Saucon! The Source is with you.
