Helen G. Danko, 94, of Schnecksville, formerly of Bingen, Lower Saucon Township, died Friday, April 10, 2015 at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall Township.mom She was the wife of the late William H. Danko. She was born in Myerstown on Sept. 13, 1920 to the late David D. and Sally (Merkey) Dechert. Helen worked at St. Luke’s Hospital as an RN before founding the health services department at Allentown College/DeSales University, which she managed until retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield, a former member of St. Theresa’s Ladies’ Guild, Hellertown, and she volunteered at St. Luke’s Visiting Nurse Association.

SURVIVORS

Children: Carolann C. Catalogne of Newtown, Georgene D. (John) Ray of Harrington, Del., Pamela M. (Terry Stout) Danko-Stout of Bethlehem, Francine M. Danko of Bethlehem, Mariann E. Danko of Coplay, William A. (Judith A.) Danko Sr. of Schnecksville; sister: Mildred “Mickey” Bortz of Hellertown; grandchildren: James Dustin, Ethan, Dylan, William A.”Billy” Jr., Roy; great-grandson: Ian. She was predeceased by siblings: Ralph Dechert, Mabel Swanger, Katherine “Kassie” Krill, Elizabeth “Betty” Kutz; and son-in-law: Paul R. Catalogne.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour Wednesday will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
