A Hellertown man whose car was badly damaged in an accident on Main Street Saturday night says he’s not getting the help he needs from the insurance company of the man whose pickup truck caused the accident.

Roy "Butch" Graser's PT Cruiser was struck by a pickup truck and badly damaged in a Main Street, Hellertown accident Saturday night.

Roy “Butch” Graser’s PT Cruiser was struck by a pickup truck and badly damaged in a Main Street, Hellertown accident Saturday night.

Roy “Butch” Graser said Monday that his PT Cruiser–which is at Kichline’s garage on Front Street–is likely to be totaled.

Graser said he needs a rental car to get to work, but he didn’t have rental coverage as part of his own insurance policy. He said the other driver’s insurer–Nationwide–is refusing to pay for a rental car until the amount of damage to Sagra Bistro is known.

After Graser’s car was struck and propelled northeast across Main Street, the pickup truck crashed into the front wall of the restaurant at 620 Main St., which was unoccupied at the time.

“I’m not getting nothing out of anything,” said a frustrated Graser in a phone interview. “They can’t do anything till they get the estimate out of the restaurant.”

A payout from Nationwide could be several months away, he said. In the meantime, he added, he needs to get to his job in Bangor, and he’s losing income because he doesn’t have transportation.

“I’ve got bills to pay too,” Graser said. “I can’t wait three months.”

He said Hellertown Police have not yet finished their report about the accident, which temporarily closed Main Street.
