Another reader, Adrienne Pauling, shared a photo of a bear that was spotted by a birdfeeder near Springtown Hill Road Friday morning.

Lower Saucon Township Police said in a brief statement posted on their Facebook page that the bear Pursell saw was also spotted on Gail Lane, which is in Leithsville.

“Please do not approach the bear (and) keep animals and children away,” police advised residents.

Police also recommended that residents secure their birdfeeders and trash cans, which are often attractive objects for hungry bears.

“If you do not bother the bear it will just wander away,” police said.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has been notified of the sightings, authorities added.
