Below is a guide to just some of the many seasonal events taking place this fall in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.1004141656a Some activities are free, while others have a cost. Most if not all are family-friendly and within an hour’s drive of Saucon Valley. Saturday, Oct. 3

  • Dutch Springs Second Annual Harvest Festival – 11 am to 4 pm – Dutch Springs, 4733 Hanoverville Road, Bethlehem – Activities include an apple sling shot, pumpkin patch, marshmallow shooters, pumpking painting, stuff-a-scarecrow activity (bring your own clothes), music, fall treats, glitter tattoos, sword training with Capt. Jack Sparrow (11:30/12:30/1:30) and a pumpkin carving contest. Pumpkin entries will be accepted at Dutch Springs on Thursday, Oct. 1 and Friday, Oct. 2 from 10 am to 4 pm and on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9 to 10 am. All pumpkins will be on display through Saturday judging. Age groups: 3-9 years old; 10-15 years old; 16+ years old. Winners will be announced at 2 pm on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Blue Koi Pavilion, when the winning name and individual of Dutch Springs’ Name Our Mascot contest will be announced. Visit www.dutchsprings.com to enter. Dutch Springs will also be hosting its 16th annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest for certified scuba divers on Saturday, Oct. 3. Registration: 10 am; Awards Ceremony: 2 pm.

Saturday, Oct. 10

  • Bethlehem Harvest Fest – Downtown Historic Bethlehem – 11 am to 8 pm – The Main Street festival will feature 30 craft vendors, live music, and soup, wine and beer tastings.
  • Neighbors Fall Festival – Neighbors Home & Garden Center, 38 Main St., Hellertown – 11 am to 3 pm – Enjoy an outdoor beef roast (noon to 2 pm), face-painting/magic show/balloon animals with Bubbles the Clown (11 am to 3 pm), petting zoo (11 am to 3 pm), hayrides (11 am to 3 pm), scarecrow-making* (11 am to 3 pm), pumpkin-painting (11 am to 3pm), an inflatable obstacle course, moon bounce, pet adoptions, refreshments, hot dogs and popcorn. Note: Please bring your own white pillowcase and clothing for the scarecrow craft. Neighbors will supply the straw.

Sunday, Oct. 11

  • Coopersburg Halloween Parade – 5 N. Main St., Downtown Coopersburg – 3 to 4:30 pm – Come out and join the Southern Lehigh community at this annual family event. Enjoy floats, candy, music,  costumes, classic cars, fire trucks and more. For more information or to register, contact John Marshall at 610-282-0812.

Sunday, Oct. 18

  • Saucon Valley Spirit Parade – Main and Water streets, Downtown Hellertown – 2 p.m. Take part in an annual Saucon Valley tradition by watching this six-division parade that extends along Main Street to Water Street to Durham Street to Constitution Avenue to Walnut Street. Prizes will be awarded in various categories. Like the Spirit Parade on Facebook.

Sunday, Oct. 25

  • Bethlehem Halloween Parade – Main and Broad streets, Downtown Bethlehem – 2 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 31

  • Halloween 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk – Saucon Valley High School, 2097 Polk Valley Road, Hellertown – 9 a.m. start. Costumes are encouraged! Proceeds will benefit the Junior Class Prom Committee and “Team Gavin” of Autism Speaks. Prizes will be awarded to the first place male and female finishers as well as the individual with the best costume. Please direct questions to “Team Gavin” captain Eilidh Lipp at Ei********@ya***.com or 484-505-9174.   • Trick-or-Treat – Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township – 6 to 8 p.m.

  • Hausman’s Fruit Farm – Fall Festival (weekends through Nov. 1: Saturdays 10 am to 5 pm, Sundays 11 am to 4 pm) – 2824 Limeport Pike, Coopersburg – Make-your-own-scarecrow table, food, hay maze (free), hayrides (free), barrel trains, pedal tractors, theme weekends and more.   • Mazezilla – Corn Maze (weekends through Sunday, Nov. 1: Fridays and Saturdays 11 am to 10 pm; Sundays except Oct. 11, 11 am to 8 pm; Sunday, Oct. 11, 11 am to 10 pm; Monday, Oct. 12, 11 am to 5 pm; $8 for ages 4 and up from 11 am to 4:59 pm; $12 for ages 4 and up from 5 to 10 pm; free for children under 4) – 437 Rt. 115, Saylorsburg – Bring your own flashlight or buy one for $5 if planning a nighttime visit to this 11-acre corn maze at Klingel’s Farm and Produce Stand. There are “corn helpers” stationed throughout the massive maze.
  • Seiple Farms – Pumpkin Patch, Corn Maze and More (weekends through Sunday, Nov. 1: Saturdays 10 am to 6 pm, Sundays 11 am to 6 pm, Columbus Day Monday noon to 6pm; Fridays Oct. 9, Oct. 16 and Oct. 23 noon to 6 pm) – 5761 Nor-Bath Blvd., Bath – Farm animal petting zoo, pony rides, amusement rides, hayrides to and from the pumpkin patch and an 18-acre corn maze with three miles of walking paths.

  • Ghost Hunt Tours by Steel Street Tours with Paranormal Spirit Finders – Saturdays (except Oct. 31) through Nov. 7, 7 to 10 pm – Travel to various believed-to-be-haunted sites around the Lehigh Valley and listen to ghost stories while hunting for signs of the paranormal. Be sure to bring along a camera, tape recorder and flashlight if you desire to help with your search for evidence of earthly visitors from beyond the grave. Tours depart from underneath the Hill-to-Hill Bridge, Main and Spring streets, Bethlehem. Tickets ($25 pp) can be purchased online. For more information, call 610-496-9842.
  • Hellerick’s Family Farm – Fall Harvest Festival and Corn Maze – 55oo N. Easton Road, Doylestown – Open daily – Pumpkin-picking, pumpkin-rolling, pumpkin-slinging, hayrides, children’s corn box, “Stalky” the Corn Horse, scarecrows, 5-acre corn maze, tractor tire climb and tunnel (for children under 5), wooden tractor and wagon slide (for kids under 5), photo stand-ins, farm market with fall decorations and special events throughout October.   • Klein Farms Dairy and CreameryFall Weekends at the Farm – 410 Klein Road, Easton – Oct. 3-4: Free hayrides to the farm’s pumpkin patch (with purchase of pumpkin) from noon to 4 pm. The pumpkins are priced by size from $2 to $10. See farm animals and enjoy the farm’s free corn maze. Oct. 10-11: Free hayrides to the pumpkin patch, free corn maze, food, farm tours and samples of Klein Farms products. On Saturday, Oct. 10 enjoy a bluegrass band performance from noon to 4 pm, and on Sunday, Oct. 11, a pop band will perform from noon to 4 pm. The Klein Farms store is open daily from 7 am to 7 pm, year-round.
