Lower Saucon Township Police said Tuesday that two Bethlehem Township men who allegedly bypassed a fence to access the IESI Bethlehem Landfill property in the 2300 block of Applebutter Road Saturday have been charged with trespassing.

In a news release, police said William Byrnes, of the 3600 block of Kelchner Road, and Esteban Flores, of the 4200 block of Alder Road, admitted to going around the fence to get onto the property shortly before 3 p.m.

They added that while talking to Byrnes, an officer “observed marijuana flakes on the outer garments of his clothes.”

A subsequent search of Byrnes led police to discover “a glass elephant smoking device…with more marijuana packed into it,” the news release said.

Byrnes is also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
