Editor’s Note: The following letter to the community is from Saucon Valley Football Head Coach Matt Evancho and the entire program he leads. Under Evancho’s leadership, the Panthers have advanced further in 2015 than ever before in the history of the district’s football program. On Friday night at 7 p.m. they’ll face off against the Selinsgrove Seals in the PIAA football state championship AAA quarterfinals at Northern Lehigh Bulldog Community Stadium in Slatington.
Dear Saucon Valley Community,
As we finish up our practice in preparation for this week’s state quarterfinal playoff game against Selinsgrove, we felt it was necessary to let the community know who we are and stand for, but also thank the community for their support this year.
It is our goal as a football program to develop young students into young men who are prepared to be successful no matter what they decide to do after high school. We regularly discuss the importance of always competing in everything you do. We ask the players to be mentally tough. Quitting is never an option. Lastly, we require the players to be responsible and reliable. We all must be accountable for what we do.
As for the season, 2015 is going to be memorable for all involved. Whether you were a coach, player, cheerleader, band member, parent, sibling, student or just a fan or community member, this season will be remembered. We have received numerous well wishes and “good lucks” from many in the community through the mail and in person. We would like to say thank you to you all. Thank you for your continued support throughout the season. Thank you for the well wishes in town, the houses that are decorated and the businesses who are supportive.
We look forward to seeing a sea of red and black in the stands this Friday night at Northern Lehigh High School. To those who cannot make it: we appreciate your support from home. The success of this season has been a result of everyone’s efforts towards a common goal.
Thank you,
Coach Evancho & the entire SV Football Program
