Dorothy Janet Schrader, 82, of Allentown, formerly of Bethlehem, died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 at the Phoebe Allentown Health Care Center.
She was the wife of the late John J. Schrader (who died in 1983). Born in Bethlehem on Oct. 21, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Elmer L. and Florence J. (Yonney) Yob. Dorothy worked at B. Braun Medical Inc., Bethlehem, for 17 years until retirement, and previously at Champion Spark Plug Co. (Hellertown Manufacturing) and part-time at the former Kostas Drug Store, Bethlehem. Dorothy enjoyed music, singing, baking, taking day trips and spending time with her family and friends. She believed in fairness, possessed a keen sense of humor and had a great love for animals, including her cat, Lucas. She will be remembered as a gentle and devoted mother, sister and friend.
SURVIVORS
Son, David S. Schrader of Bethlehem; daughter, Susan M. Schweitzer and husband Jeremy S. Schweitzer of Fogelsville; siblings: Irene Yob of Bethlehem, William (Lydia) Yob of Hellertown. Dorothy’s sister, Delores J. Kannapel, died on the same day as Dorothy (Dec. 2, 2015). Dorothy was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth A. Anewalt.
SERVICE
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
