Two small tan dogs were abandoned on Orchards Road in between Springtown Hill and Leithsville roads Saturday night, and Lower Saucon Township Police are seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding their abandonment.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, police said “a potential suspect was seen leaving the area and was described as an elderly male driving a pick-up truck.”

The dogs were found inside a crate without food or water in a field off the rural road, police said.

The high temperature Saturday in the Saucon Valley was in the lower 90s.

One dog is male and the other is female, and “both appear to be relatively young…in good condition, and very friendly,” police said.

Anyone with information about their ownership or who might be responsible for abandoning them is asked to call the Northampton County Non-Emergency Number, 610-759-2200, and reference LSTPD incident # 20160529M4368.

Police are also asking members of the public to share their Facebook post.
