Saucon Source is growing! As part of our expansion, and to better serve our readers, we’re seeking additional freelance writers/photographers to help with coverage of everything from local sports to meetings to sponsored business content.

Qualifications:

  • You must be able to write about local news (i.e. be able to report on something objectively), with minimal editing required. This is not a creative writing opportunity.
  • You must have at least a working knowledge of the Saucon Valley area, including its people and places.
  • You must have a smartphone, a Facebook account, an email account, reliable transportation and the ability to work independently.

Preferred:

  • Computer skills. Experience with WordPress (the platform Saucon Source is built on) is a plus. Since Saucon Source is a startup, online business, it’s also important to already be familiar with social media and how it is used to help promote content on the website.
  • Experience writing “advertorial” content, such as stories promoting businesses or organizations. See here for an example: When You Need Air Conditioning ASAP, Call Carl Volkman & Sons HVAC (Sponsored)
  • A desire to help the improve the lives of local residents through the timely sharing of information on an innovative media platform. Saucon Source and other websites like it are the future of local media, and you should be excited to be a part of that.

Any freelancer will be an independent contractor. Freelancers have a flexible schedule and the ability to choose their assignments. Whenever possible, the publisher will try to accommodate preferences for covering certain subject matter.

The freelancer position could be ideal for a recent college grad, a stay-at-home mom or dad, or a semi-retired/retired person looking to supplement their income.

For more information, please email publisher Josh Popichak at jo**@sa**********.com. For immediate consideration, include your updated resume and a brief statement about why you would like to write for Saucon Source.

Payment will be determined based upon experience.
