The Saucon Valley High School Marching Band participated in a U.S. Scholastic Bands Association (USSBA) competition in Nazareth Saturday and did very well.

The band’s score was 83.250 (about eight points higher than at their most recent competition) and they were awarded with Best Percussion, Best Music, Best Visual and Best Overall honors in their division.

In other band-related news, the Saucon Valley Music Connection–which supports the band with various fundraising activities–has some new menu items at their snackstand at home football games at Saucon Valley School District Stadium.

Buffalo chicken dip is a new item and can be ordered as a topping on chicken sandwiches, burgers and nachos, just to name a few. Loaded baked potatoes are also available along with “Totchos,” which are loaded nachos on top of tater tots.

To help keep spectators warm on the increasingly chilly autumn evenings, the SVMC also sells gourmet coffee at their stand, which is located next to the north (main) stadium entrance.

The next home football game is this Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. The Panthers will battle the Wilson Area Warriors, and it will also be Saucon’s Homecoming Night.
