Lower Saucon Township Police said Monday they are investigating a hit-and-run accident in which a stop sign at Mountain Drive and Brodhead Court was struck and knocked over by a vehicle Saturday morning, during a winter storm that created icy conditions on many area roads.

In a news release, police said tire tracks left in the snow indicated the vehicle that struck the stop sign was northbound on Mountain Drive “when the right side tires left the roadway and struck” the sign.

The damaged sign was discovered shortly after 9 a.m.

Anyone with information about the accident should call township police at 610-317-6110 or 610-759-2200.
