Weekend’s Most Exciting SV Youth Basketball Game Was Wildcats v. Badgers
Tony Salgado got the Wildcats on the board quickly with a jumper. Elijah Miller responded for the Badgers with two of his own, setting the tone for a back-and-forth game.

In another weekend filled with exciting youth basketball action, the 3/4 Rec Boys saw their most exciting game come from two Saucon Valley teams, the Wildcats and the Badgers. Tony Salgado got the Wildcats on the board quickly with a jumper. Elijah Miller responded for the Badgers with two of his own, setting the tone for a back-and-forth game. The game was knotted at 19 when Joey Griffith went down the court on a fast break to put the Wildcats up by two with six second left. A foul would put Miller at the line with a chance to tie it with a second left. He hit one of two and the Wildcats would hold on to the win. Griffith finished with six and led the team in rebounds. Luke Stubblefield also scored six and Nic Albanese had a couple of fast breaks to score four.
In another game between Saucon Valley teams, the Buckeyes improved to 5-1 with a victory over the Wolverines, 29-16. Ian Lucas scored his first points of the basketball season as well as pulled down four rebounds. Harry Vicic had seven rebounds. Matthew Keenan led the scoring with eight points, including sinking both of his free throws late in the game.
The 3/4 Boys travel team, the Hoosiers, won two out of three games this weekend. They beat Northern Lehigh 37-8 on Friday, holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the second half. On Saturday, they beat Green Acres 30-23, rallying from as much as five points down. Caleb Grim led the team with 11 points. On Sunday, they faced the undefeated Catty team and stayed close through the first 30 minutes of the game, frustrating the first place team. Ultimately, a strong run by Catty led to a 31-14 win. Joey Griffith led the team with six points.
This weekend the 1/2 Minors play Saturday morning in the Saucon Valley Elementary School Gym. The 3/4 Boys rec teams start play at 9 a.m.Ā in the Saucon Valley Middle School Gym. The 3/4 Girls rec start Saturday at 12:30 p.m.Ā at Southern Lehigh Middle School. The 5/6 Boys rec teams start play Saturday morning at 9 a.m., andĀ the 5/6 Girls Bobcats take on the Canes Saturday at 10 a.m.
The Hoosiers will play Thursday at Emmaus and again both Saturday and Sunday afternoon at home in the Middle School Gym. The 5/6 Boys Thundering Herd play Saturday at Nazareth and Sunday at the Canes. The 5/6 Huskies are home Saturday against Salisbury and Sunday against Notre Dame.
