Joseph Richard Mitko, 87, of Hellertown, formerly of Woodbridge, N.J., died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill.

Joseph Richard Mitko, 87, of Hellertown, formerly of Woodbridge, N.J., died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of the late Agnes J. (Murawski) Mitko, who died Sept. 19, 2015. Joseph was born in Perth Amboy, N.J., on March 16, 1929 to the late Joseph Lawrence and Helen (Hlavac) Mitko. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a pipe liner for Transco Gas (now Williams Company) in Houston, Texas. He was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown.

SURVIVORS

Children: The Rev. Joseph K. Mitko of Hellertown, JoAnn (nee Mitko) Leili and her husband Mark of Perth Amboy, N.J.; grandchildren: Mark and his wife Lisa Leili and Rachel Leili; great-granddaughter: Autumn Raye Leili.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 10 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hope Lawn, N.J. CONTRIBUTIONS

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Manor in thanksgiving for their personal care, 1200 Spring St., Bethlehem, PA 18018.
