Walter A. Smith Jr., 73, formerly of Bingen Road, Bethlehem (Lower Saucon Township), died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 at St. Luke’s-Quakertown Hospital.

Walter A. Smith Jr., 73, formerly of Bingen Road, Bethlehem (Lower Saucon Township), died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 at St. Luke’s-Quakertown Hospital. He was the husband of the late Sandra M. (Snyder) Smith (died Aug. 23, 2008) and the late Jean L. (Snyder). Walter was born in Wilson Borough on May 17, 1943 to the late Walter A. Sr. and Virginia (Ogmenovitch) Smith. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked for Outdoor Power Sales & Service, Riegelsville for 20 years and was a bus driver for Saucon Valley School District for 10 years. Walter was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Riegelsville.

SURVIVORS

Children: Walter A. Smith III in New Jersey, William E. (Emily Kelly) Smith of Macungie, Michael A. Smith of Bellefonte, Robyn L. (Gregory) Matz of Macungie; sister: Joyce Ciegelski in New Jersey; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson. He was predeceased by daughter: Tracey A. Walter (died Jan. 5, 2005) and a brother: William R. Smith.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc.. 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 10 a.m. The interment with military honors will be at Bingen Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Lower Saucon Township.
