A mother of four Saucon Valley students who works as an attorney in Philadelphia is running as a cross-filed candidate for one of four open seats on the Saucon Valley School Board.

Tracy Magnotta

Tracy Magnotta is a Lehigh Valley native and a Lower Saucon Township resident since 2007, along with her husband, Carmen, and their four sons, who are in grades 1 through 7.

In a news release, she said she is “firmly committed to ensuring that Saucon Valley School District remains a top school district in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.”

“It’s a well-known fact that a top school district attracts new residents, increases property values and brings the community together,” she added.

Magnotta said she decided to run for a seat on the school board because of her passion for quality education.

A first-generation college graduate in her family, she said she “believes that education is the great equalizer, and every student in our district should be given the opportunity and tools to reach and unlock their highest potential.”

Magnotta added that her passion for education is tempered by being “extremely sensitive to the large financial burden that school property taxes place on our our local residents,” and is committed to finding alternative funding sources as well as “leveraging all available free resources…to increase opportunities for our students without increasing the financial burden on our local taxpayers.”

A participant/volunteer in various local organizations, Magnotta said she is:

  • On the board of the Saucon Valley Youth Soccer League, as well as the league’s equipment manager
  • A volunteer for the Saucon Valley Youth Basketball, soccer and lacrosse organizations.
  • A member of the Saucon Valley Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization.
  • A member of Saucon Valley PAGE.
  • A mentor for the fourth grade mock trial teams for the past three years.
  • A member, along with her family, of Assumption BVM Church in Upper Saucon Township.

Her past volunteer participation includes involvement with the Saucon Valley Little Panthers youth football program and Hellertown-Lower Saucon Little League.

Professionally, Magnotta is a practicing attorney and partner at the firm of Anapol Weiss, specializing in complex civil litigation.

“She has been honored as a Pennsylvania Rising Star and Super Lawyer for the past 15 years,” her release said.

Magnotta is licensed to practice law in both state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice.

“It’s time for a change on the Saucon Valley School Board and Tracy has the vision, energy and commitment necessary to ensure that the children of our community have the best possible education that we can give them without increasing the financial burden on our taxpayers,” her release said.
