Driving unusually slowly was what attracted the attention of police officers responding to a medical call in Steel City to an allegedly intoxicated motorist April 1, Lower Saucon Township Police said Monday in a news release.
According to police, at approximately 2:24 a.m. Lisa Kimberly Volk, 54, of the 4400 block of Bellflower Way, Upper Macungie Township, “was observed operating her white Acura TSX east on Riverside Drive in the area of Mathews Avenue at a speed well under the posted speed limit.”
“Officers checked her status and found she was under the influence of alcoholic beverages,” police said in the news release. “After further investigation, Volk was placed under arrest for DUI.”
According to police, Volk was determined to have a blood alcohol concentration of .19 percent, which is more than twice the legal limit.
She has been charged with DUI and a minimum speeds violation, they added.
