Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release Thursday that an Emmaus woman who allegedly caused a hit-and-run crash at Bingen and Old Mill roads May 13 has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failing to give or render aid, failure to notify the police department of an accident involving property damage, speeding and driving while privileges are suspended/revoked due to a DUI.

Lower Saucon Township Police released this image of a woman they say caused a hit-and-run accident on Bingen Road at Old Mill Road on the afternoon of Saturday, May 13. She has since been identified by police as Ann Marie Wieder of Ridge Street, Emmaus.

According to police, Ann Marie Wieder, of the 200 block of Ridge Street, was eastbound on Bingen Road just before 2 p.m. when she slid on the wet roadway and struck an oncoming vehicle at Old Mill Road.

“Wieder then fled the scene and failed to render aid or exchange information,” police said, adding that it “was determined later that Wieder did not have permission to operate the vehicle nor had a valid driver’s license.”

To help identify Wieder, police circulated surveillance photos taken by a security camera mounted outside a nearby home she allegedly approached following the accident.
