Last Water Line Valve Replacement Scheduled for Monday

A project that involved replacing 13 faulty valves on water lines in Hellertown is nearly complete.

On Friday the Hellertown Borough Authority announced that its contractor will begin excavating and replacing a valve at Water and Main streets this Monday, Aug. 28 at around 8 a.m.
Businesses and residents on Main Street between Water and Saucon streets, on Water Street between Main and Front streets, on Front Street between Water and Saucon streets, and on Saucon
Street between Front and Main streets will be without water while the work is being done, the HBA said.
Affected businesses and residents are being informed by phone Friday.
Those in the affected area may experience discolored water when the work is completed and the water lines are being refilled, the announcement stated.
“The contractor will work as quickly as possible and unless there are problems encountered, the water should be restored by the afternoon,” the HBA said. “This is the last of 13 valves that have been replaced by the Authority over the past month. Residents and businesses are thanked for their cooperation.”
On Friday the Hellertown Borough Authority also launched a Facebook page, which it plans to use to help inform residents about similar projects in the future.
