William O. Koczen, 95, of Bethlehem, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at Moravian Village of Bethlehem. He was the husband of Irene N. (Nyeki) Koczen. He was born in Bethlehem on May 9, 1922 to the late John and Mary P. (Pojbics) Koczen. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the submarine service. Bill was a machinist at the former Bethlehem Steel for 43 years until retiring. He was a member of St. John’s Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, and a former member of the Hellertown Lions. Bill sang with the MORA Club and was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA), Lehigh Valley Harmonizers and Four’s Company, with whom he sang tenor.
In addition to his loving wife of 67 years; daughter: Debra Koczen-Doyle (Anthony P. Doyle) of Philadelphia; sister: Pearl K. Reynolds of Bethlehem; grandchildren: Liam (Abby) Doyle, Caitlin Doyle; great-granddaughter: Lucy Grace Doyle.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Edward H.
