A hit-and-run accident in which the driver of a truck reportedly struck and damaged a utility pole at the intersection of Seidersville Road and Fire Lane in Lower Saucon Township resulted in the closure of Seidersville between Old Philadelphia Pike and Emaus Avenue late Friday afternoon.

A photo taken at the scene shows the pole nearly broken in half and suspended by wires dangling above and across the narrow road.

A police source said the road is likely to remain closed for hours, until repairs to the pole can be made.

Motorists will need to use alternate routes until the road is reopened.
