If you’re a driver who regularly uses Rt. 512 (Center Street) in North Bethlehem, you can expect to possibly encounter significant delays for a road work project that will be taking place over the next month or so.

In a news release Tuesday, PennDOT said that beginning Wednesday, Aug. 22 and continuing through Sept. 28, there will be lane restrictions day and night for milling and paving work on Center Street.

The work will be occurring 24 hours a day between the New Street Bridge and Rt. 22, which is the entire length of the roadway in the city.

“Expect significant delays and please use caution driving through the work zone,” PennDOT said.

To help ease rush hour congestion, there will be no restrictions on weekdays between 6 and 9 a.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m.

“This is part of an ongoing project that began in June to resurface…Center Street between the Philip J. Fahy Memorial Bridge and US 22,” PennDOT said.
