A Hellertown man is facing charges related to an alleged domestic assault on his mother which police say took place earlier this week.
In a news release and in an affidavit of probable cause filed in District Court 03-2-04 in Lower Saucon Township, borough police Wednesday said Cody Machemer, 24, was allegedly “breaking items” in his mother’s home in the 1500 block of Main Street, Hellertown, when she called 911 shortly after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Hellertown Police Ofc. John Donato wrote that the woman said Machemer was also allegedly “acting violently towards (his mother) and would not stop.”
“She advised that she called the police tonight because on Oct. 8 he was acting in a similar fashion and pushed her down a flight of steps in the residence, causing injuries,” Donato wrote in the affidavit.
The victim consented to having her injuries–which Donato said consisted of “large bruises”–being photographed by police as part of their investigation, but quit in the middle of writing a statement about the alleged attack because “she did not want anything to happen to (her son),” per the affidavit.
Police said that when his mother called 911, Cody Machemer allegedly “fled the scene in a vehicle, stealing eight 1mg Klonopin pills, a Schedule 4 controlled substance, while leaving.”
A warrant for Machemer’s arrest on charges of Simple Assault (Misdemeanor 2) and Harassment (Summary) has been issued by the Hellertown Police Department, but as of Wednesday afternoon he had yet to be arraigned in court on those charges.
