Motorists who travel I-78 West between the Rt. 33 and Rt. 412 (Hellertown) exits in Lower Saucon Township this weekend can expect to encounter what PennDOT called ‘significant’ delays for bridge dam repairs.

According to a news release from PennDOT, there will be a lane restriction in place in that area from 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 through 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18.

Through traffic on I-78 is encouraged to use Rt. 33 north and Rt. 22 west as a detour around the work zone.

Others should “expect significant delays and please use caution driving through the work zone,” PennDOT said.

Motorists can check conditions on I-78 and other roads by visiting 511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 860 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone app for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1 or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
