As of 10 p.m. Wednesday numerous volunteer fire companies from throughout the Lehigh Valley were continuing to battle what appeared to be a stubborn blaze in at least two Fountain Hill borough rowhomes.

It was not immediately clear if the home was occupied when the fire broke out around 9 p.m. or whether there have been any injuries as a result of the fire.

Roads in the area of 608-610 Forrest Street–which is near Fountain Hill Elementary School and a block south of Broadway–are closed for the large fire and police response, which includes at least two ladder trucks and numerous other vehicles.

Fountain Hill, Lower Saucon Fire Rescue, Eastern Salisbury, Catasauqua, Greenawalds and Han-Le-Co are just some of the companies at the scene.

Smoke that was initially billowing from a second story window where firefighters made entry had dissipated somewhat by 10 p.m., as firefighters continued to work at the blaze from all angles and sides with chainsaws and other equipment. As of 10 p.m. a number of firefighters were attacking it from the roof of the attached homes.

Please note that this is a developing news story which will be updated or followed up as additional information becomes available.

Video of the response is posted on the Saucon Source Facebook page.
