Central Moravian Church Presents Spring Organ and Brass Concert
March 18 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm$10
Organist Rebecca Lepore, Mainstreet Brass and brass players from across the region will join forces for a concert of classic organ and brass repertoire at 4 p.m. March 18 at Central Moravian Church, Main and Church streets, Bethlehem.
“A concert featuring a dozen brass players, organ and percussion doesn’t happen every day,” said Lepore, director of music and organist at Central Moravian Church, which is presenting the program as part of its concert series. “You won’t want to miss the opportunity to hear music from 17th century Venice, where the union of antiphonal organ and brass had its origins, 19th and early 20th century symphonic literature arranged for organ and large brass ensemble and percussion, plus a few surprises.”
“Central Moravian Church is delighted to present this program,” Lepore said. “The Mainstreet Brass is a very important part of our music ministry, and we always look forward to any opportunity to partner together, whether in worship or concert.”
The program will also feature several works for solo organ, including “Introduction and Passacaglia” by Max Reger, selections by Mainstreet Brass, the guest brass ensemble at Central Moravian Church. It will conclude with an arrangement for the combined instrumental forces of the adagio and finale from Saint-Saëns’ famous Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 78 ‘Organ.’
Admission: $10 suggested donation at the door.
