Spring Into Birding
April 21, 2018 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pmFree
On Saturday, April 21, Saucon Valley Conservancy members and the Audubon Society are holding a FREE spring birding event at Heller Homestead along the Saucon Creek. Priscilla and Rett Oren will provide an “Introduction to Birding” lecture from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Michael Heller House, 1892 Friedensville Road, Bethlehem, PA 18015. They will lead a birding walk at 10:30 a.m.
Opticron, a family-owned nature optics company, will have representative Frank Dickman available to showcase binoculars for sale and loan. Binoculars will be available that day on loan for birders going on the bird walk.
In addition to the birding event, docents will be available to lead tours of the historic Heller House. The public will get an opportunity to see the renovated artifacts room and the Heller-Stever room’s new signage, which details the history of the Homestead. Admission is free; donations are encouraged.
Bring your binoculars, camera, sketch pad, Peterson’s guide and appropriate outdoor-wear for the day. Binoculars will be on hand to try out and also to purchase.
To register, call 610-838-1199 or sign up at www.saucon.org.
In the case of inclement weather, the lecture and house tours will go on, but the bird walk will not.
