SUMMARY:CANCELED: Shopping at the Mill (SATM) and Santa's Visit
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: The Hellertown Historical Society has canceled the Shopping at the Mill and Santa’s visit event scheduled for Sunday\, Dec. 14\, 2025\, due to the forecast for snow and cold. These Drum Birthing kits come from the Navajo Nation and are ethically sourced. \nDrum Size & Skin Choices: \n15 Inch Deer Skin $250\n15 Inch Elk Skin $270\n15 Inch Buffalo Skin $290\n20 Inch Deer Skin $310\n20 Inch Elk Skin $330\n20 Inch Buffalo Skin $350 \nFree Drum Beater Included \nPayments via:\nVenmo: @GebiyaVibrations\nor\nPayPal: SeekGodDeeply@gmail.com (choose payment to Friend or Family) \n((( Make your own drum )))\nThe way of the drum is our connection to Mother Earth. Her prayer is that the rhythm of the drum awakens the heartbeat deep within us so we can connect to the love\, nurturing and the healing of this being\, our Mother Earth. We become as one with the pulse and rhythm of her heartbeat\, the heartbeat that is in all living things. In the Native American culture\, the drum has been called the Heartbeat of Mother Earth\, awakening the senses\, stirring the soul\, building community and facilitating healing. We are all born with a drum–our heartbeat.\nIn this Drum Birthing Workshop we will be creating a 15-inch or 20-inch round drum using deer\, elk or buffalo hide. You will also receive a FREE drumbeater. Participants will receive instruction on how to assemble their very own 15-inch or 20-inch Native American hand drum. The process is ceremonial from start to finish in the spirit of the Cherokee Nation and truly bonds us to our drum and our own sacred rhythms. We will initiate the drum with a sacred song & sage smudging and a small Drum Circle to welcome in the Animal Spirit of you drums skin choice. \n******************************** \nBelow is the Native Medicine of the Skin Options \nDEER MEDICINE: Deer medicine touches and heals our hearts. The medicine of the North: the red road and the path of the Heart. When we are healing our heartaches\, heartbreaks or opening the heart and learning to speak from the heart\, drumming with deer is powerful medicine. Deer will open you to the higher truth of the intention of your heart. \nELK MEDICINE: The animal spirit of Elk is one of strength\, nobility\, pride\, survival and stamina. Elk medicine teaches us that by pacing ourselves we increase our stamina. Elk people may not complete a project first\, but when it is done they have not burned themselves out. Elk are able to look at the long journey and to “hit their stride” to maintain energy and perseverance. Elk reminds us of the importance of community\, most especially fellowship with our same gender. \nBUFFALO MEDICINE: Buffalo Medicine is one of the strongest\, fiercest and most confident energies. The buffalo is powerful medicine that is a symbol of sacrifice and service to the community. The buffalo is also a symbol of gratitude and honor as it is happy to accept its meager existence as it stands proud against the winds of adversity. The buffalo represents abundance of the Creator’s bounty and respect for all creation knowing that all things are sacred. The buffalo represents a manifestation of the divine aspects of our being. \n********************************

SUMMARY:Central Moravian Church to Present Advent and Christmas Concert Dec. 6
DESCRIPTION:Central Moravian Church will present its annual Advent and Christmas Concert on Saturday\, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in a program featuring choral and instrumental music to welcome the holiday season. The concert is free\, and doors will open at 1 p.m. \n“Central Moravian Church is happy to share this festive and reflective concert with our Lehigh Valley neighbors and visitors to Bethlehem\,” says Becky Lepore\, minister of music at Central Moravian Church. “It’s a time to relax and enjoy carols and fellowship as we prepare for the busy Christmas season.” \n“We hope this gift to our community will help spread the message of God’s love through music and word as we gather in this historic church\, which is listed with worldwide Moravian Church Settlements as a World Heritage site\,” she adds. \nThe concert will include “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and “Skater’s Waltz” performed by Lepore on Central Moravian’s Möller Opus 8650 organ\, with its four manuals\, 109 ranks and 3\,057 pipes. Central Moravian’s choir will perform “Morning Star in Darkest Night” by Georg Friedrich von Hellström (1825–1912)\, a Dutch Moravian composer\, organist and violist. For 40 years\, he served the Moravian congregation in Christiansfeld\, Denmark\, also part of the Moravian Church Settlements listed as a World Heritage site. \nThe choir will also perform “Festival Nowell” by American composer Dan Forrest (b. 1978) and “There Shall a Star” by Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847)\, part of his unfinished oratorio Christus\, Op. 97. It has been performed at almost every Christmas Eve Vigil at Central Moravian Church since 1891. \nMainstreet Brass\, ensemble in residence at Central Moravian\, will perform two sets of carols\, and the audience will be invited to join in singing hymns of the season\, including the final verse of “Jesus Call Thou Me\,” sung on Christmas Eve in 1741\, when Count Ludwig von Zinzendorf named this new community “Bethlehem\,” and “Morning Star\,” a cherished Moravian hymn by Francis Florentine Hagen (1815-1907)\, a Moravian bishop and composer born in Winston-Salem\, N.C. \nThe concert will conclude with an organ and brass arrangement of Samuel Scheidt’s (1587-1654) “In dulci jubilo.” \nAbout Central Moravian Church \nFounded in 1742\, Central Moravian Church is Bethlehem’s first congregation and the oldest Moravian Church in North America. Coming from a variety of backgrounds and traditions\, the congregation today joins together to experience God’s love in a caring\, respectful and inclusive atmosphere. Central Moravian Church emphasizes Christian faith\, hope and love. \nCentral Moravian Church is situated in the newly inscribed UNESCO World Heritage site\, recognizing the Moravian Church Settlements of Gracehill (Northern Ireland)\, Christiansfeld (Denmark)\, and Herrnhut (Germany)\, as well as Bethlehem. \nWith a rich\, living musical tradition\, Central Moravian Church presents a full schedule of concerts annually. Early American Moravians had close connections to their European roots and sought and performed contemporary music being composed in Europe. Haydn’s “The Creation” was performed for the first time in the United States in the sanctuary of Central Moravian Church in 1811\, and the first complete performance of Bach’s Mass in B minor was presented at\nCentral in 1900\, thus giving Central Moravian Church status as a National Landmark of Music. \nVisit Centralmoravianchurch.org/season/advent-christmas/ for a complete listing of Advent and Christmas activities at Central Moravian Church.
