People aren’t the only ones affected by skyrocketing food prices. A new initiative by Lehigh Valley Animal Crematory Services Inc. in Hellertown seeks to address the growing problem of pet owners struggling to make ends meet at a time when pet adoption rates from shelters–thankfully–remain robust.
It’s not exactly the season for growing fresh vegetables here in Pennsylvania, but that doesn’t mean those in need should go without nutritious produce, and thanks to the efforts of volunteers from Christ Lutheran Hellertown they don’t have to. The church also collects thousands of nonperishable food items annually to help combat food insecurity in Saucon Valley.
Families in the Hellertown area who are struggling with food insecurity will have another resource available to them, thanks to the generosity of the volunteers who dedicated “blessing boxes” outside St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic church Saturday.
Lower Saucon Township will soon install two new “blessing boxes,” which will provide anonymous access to food and other essential items for community members in need.
