Father’s Day is nearly here, and Trish and Diane of ROOT Crafted Cocktail Mixers think dad’s really earned a special drink this year. Exclusively for Saucon Source readers, they’ve shared an easy recipe for one he’s sure to love.
As Father’s Day approaches, take a moment to think about your father and what he taught you. How did dad help you become the person you are today?
Father’s Day 2015 is likely to be a wet one. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for most of eastern Pennsylvania including the Lehigh Valley for Saturday evening through Sunday evening, when moisture from Tropical Storm Bill is forecast to move through the region. According to a statement issued Friday, “heavy rainfall tied to the remnant moisture from Tropical Storm Bill is expected to occur across our region Saturday night through most of Sunday. Rainfall amounts between two to three inches, with locally higher amounts upwards of four inches, may cause flooding along area streams and creeks.” River flooding is not forecast at this time, the weather service said.
Does dad look like his canine best friend? If they could pass for twins there could be prizes in store for them, courtesy of the Saucon Valley Farmers’ Market and Pinky’s Pet Grooming Mobile Salon. The annual Dads & Dogs Lookalike Contest will be held on Father’s Day Sunday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to noon at the market, which is located next to the Hellertown Area Library at 409 Constitution Ave., Hellertown (across from Dimmick Park). Entries can be made at the market’s information booth, and winners will be notified by phone. Pinky’s has donated the prizes for dads and treats for the four-legged contestants.

During the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Braveheart is also offering beer and food specials for fans who drop in to cheer on the red, white and blue. When the U.S. women play on June 12 and June 16, guests can enjoy $2 Coors Light bottles and $5 chips and dip. Manager Jen German said that in addition to Father’s Day, reservations are being accepted for pre- and post-graduation dinners.
