Thursday was an exciting day for the cast and crew of “Curtains,” Saucon Valley High School’s spring musical. Along with high school theater departments from around the Lehigh Valley, Saucon students’ eyes were on Easton for the announcement of this year’s Freddy Award nominations live from the State Theatre.
Saucon Valley’s spring musical production of “The Music Man” has now won not only rave reviews from attendees, but also from the Freddy Awards, which recognize and reward outstanding achievement in local high school musical theater.
Months of rehearsals and hard work by a cast and crew of dozens of Saucon Valley students will come to fruition this weekend with performances of the 1920s-era musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” at Saucon Valley High School in Hellertown. “Millie” stars Lauren Skillenge as the eponymous flapper and features elaborate sets, costumes and choreography designed to evoke the Jazz Age. A final dress rehearsal featuring a full orchestra was held Wednesday night in the auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door for performances Thursday through Sunday. Performances are March 3, 4 and 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors/students.
