Giant Food Stores announced Wednesday that following a recall by Herr’s Foods, Inc., it has removed from sale Herr’s Sour Cream and Onion Potato Chips “because the declaration ‘gluten free’ was inadvertently included on the front panel of the package.” “This product is not gluten free,” Giant said in a news release. “This product is safe to consume for individuals who do not suffer from a gluten allergy or intolerance.” The following product is included in the recall:
Herr’s Sour Cream and Onion Potato Chip, 1.875 oz., UPC 7260000061, with a product code of 122
Giant said it hasn’t received any reports of illnesses to date. “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to gluten may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” the store said.
