John D. DelRe, 85, of Lower Saucon Township, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Frances E. (Mish) DelRe (died April 11, 2007). He was born in Lower Saucon Township on Jan. 18, 1929 to the late John DelRe Sr. and Maria (Consolagio) DelRe. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. John was a cabinet maker for 10 years at Eisenhart Mills, Williams Township, until 1991. Previously he was self-employed in the same vocation.
He was a faithful member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown, where he was on the Usher Team. John was a dedicated Hellertown Lions member, where he was the recipient of the highest Lions Award, the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He also served as president several times, held various offices and was the lead builder/designer of the Lions’ Recycling Trailer and the Hot Dog Wagon.
SURVIVORS
Loving children: Nancy T. Luckenbach of Bethlehem, David A. (Tammy L.) of Hellertown; grandchildren: Matthew J. (Katrina) Luckenbach, Danielle E. and Jason J. DelRe; great-grandchildren: Chase T. and Chloe S. Luckenbach. He was predeceased by eight siblings.
SERVICE
Family and friends are invited to call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
