William H. Raab Sr., 89, of Coopersburg (Obituary Brought to You by Heintzelman Funeral Home)

William H. Raab Sr., 89, of Coopersburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 at St. Luke’s University Hospital & Health Network, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of the late Mabel M. (Miller) Raab. He was born in Hellertown on July 4, 1926 to the late Jacob and Marie (Sarkany) Raab. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he saw action from Holland into Germany. He earned the European Ribbon with three stars on it and also received the Bronze Star for bravery as well as a letter of recognition for bravery signed by President Harry S. Truman. William worked as a laborer in construction and also at Bethlehem Steel as a mechanic’s helper and a truck driver for Teamster Local 773. After retirement he worked as a limo driver. He was a member of New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lower Saucon Township, Coopersburg Fire Company, Lower Milford Fire Company and Upper Saucon Fire Company.

SURVIVORS

Children: Richard R. (Barbara) of Nazareth, Robert R. of Center Valley, Patricia A. of Coopersburg, Beverly M. (Clarence) Ruppert of Breinigsville, Bonnie S. of Zionsville, Cynthia J. (David A.) Schaffer of Coopersburg; brother: John of Bethlehem; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by children: Karen K. Beal, Dennis G. and William H. Jr.; siblings: Louis, Martin, Jake, Michael, Theresa Waite, Marie Chersienson.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2016 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service 11 a.m. The interment with military honors will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
