On a very hot Friday, May 27, the Music Department traveled and performed very nicely while representing Saucon Valley Middle School proudly at the Music in the Parks Festival in central Pennsylvania.
All groups looked sharp in their concert black and white while performing formal concerts that were judged by well-respected music educators from the northeastern part of the U.S.
The bands performed at Central Dauphin High School, where the Concert Band received a rating of Excellent and placed 2nd in their division. The Jazz Band received a rating of Good and placed 1st in their division.
The choirs performed at Life Church in Linglestown.
The Choir received a rating of Superior and placed 1st in their division, the Camerata received a rating of Superior and placed 1st in their division and the Choir received the Best Overall Choir across all divisions!
Additionally, Martina Fedorowicz, an eighth grader who participated in all of the performances was awarded a prestigious award for the Most Outstanding Solo for the entire festival! Quite an accomplishment.
After a long morning of performing and listening, the groups ended up at Hersheypark, where they received their trophies at an awards ceremony held in the park’s amphitheater. After the ceremony the students enjoyed more rides before most ended up at Chocolate World, before heading to the bus for the ride home.
Thank you to our community for it’s support of the music program this year!
