Panther Pride Performs Well in VEWL Tourney (Brought to You by Spirk Brothers Inc.)

Est. Read Time: 3 mins

The Saucon Valley Youth Wrestlers had a great showing in the 2017 VEWL tournament.

The 2017 VEWL (Valley Elementary Wrestling League) championship has come to a close and the Saucon Valley Panthers had an excellent showing. The Panthers finished third overall with 178 points trailing only Forks Township (179) and Northampton (207). Saucon Valley was able to close the gap on their opponents in the two day tournament, but could not quite catch the frontrunners.

There were, however, plenty of accolades and hardware to go around for the Panthers!

Saucon Valley fifth-grader Cole Hubert is a 2017 VEWL champion. It is his third VEWL title!

2017 VEWL Champions

Saucon Valley coaches Ben Chunko and Mike Beckowski congratulate Travis Riefenstahl for his 2017 VEWL championship.

The Panthers’ Jake Jones wins his second VEWL title.

2017 VEWL Runner-Ups

Saucon Valley fourth-grader Aidan Grogg had a strong finish in the 2017 VEWL championships.

The Panthers’ Tyler Pfizenmayer came up just short from repeating as a VEWL champion.

2017 VEWL Medalists

SV Youth wrestling coach Ben Chunko accepts a 2017 team trophy for winning the VEWL’s Northeast Division.

Saucon Valley resident Dave Spirk volunteers and serves as VEWL president.

Great job Panthers, the Source is with you!
