The Hellertown-Lower Saucon “Boys of Summer” were at it on Saturday in a baseball tournament hosted by the Williams Township Athletic Association. The HLS Majors (11 & 12 yr. old) tournament team coached by Kim Brown, Rob Hubert, Mike Beckowski, Shawn Donahue and Alan Pfizenmayer visited Chrinergy Recreation Field for a little double-header action yesterday.

In the opening game against Del-Val the HLS tourney team overcame a 2-run deficit in the top of the 5th inning courtesy of RBI singles by Jacob Huber and Braden Weiss to knot the score at 6-6. However, Del-Val created two more runs in the bottom of the 5th and held on for a hard-fought 8-6 victory.

Tyler Pfizenmayer, who is entering 7th grade, slides safely into homeplate.

In the second game against Williams Township, HLS manufactured a three-run first inning combined with a 4-run second. It was a wonderful team effort, but the offensive production was highlighted by Matt Yusella hitting a single in the first inning and smacking a triple in the second. Yusella’s bat led to a total four runs batted in for his teammates. HLS went on to defeat Williams Township by a score of 10-3.

12 year-old Cody Swinney was King of the Hill.
