Not all heroes wear capes, and not all of the stars at Panther football games are on the field. The Saucon Valley High School marching band plays a big role in generating school and community spirit at football games and events throughout the year. In gratitude for their performances and recognition of their talent, Saucon Source is proud to recognize this year’s SVHS senior band members with our “Senior Band Member Salute.” We thank band director Michael Marini for his assistance with compiling these profiles.

Q: What instrument(s) do you play and how long have you been playing them in/outside of band?
I play the trumpet, sing, and I play a little bit of piano.
Q: How did you first become interested in music? What keeps you playing?
My parents are musicians so I grew up listening to a large variety of music and it has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about being a member of the marching band?
Just being able to support my peers and being in an organization that takes pride in itself. Playing music and doing something physical is also really really fun, and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever done.
Q: What’s the best number to get the crowd going at a Saucon Valley football game?
Either “Hot Boyz” or “Sweet Caroline.”
Q: Who has helped you become a better musician?
All of my teachers, but specifically my private trumpet teacher Mr. Housley, along with my parents.
Q: What are your future plans, and do they involve music?
I plan on attending a four-year college. I am passionate about music and plan to continue studying it throughout the rest of my life.
