The Saucon Valley School District has announced a partnership with Rachel’s Challenge, an evidence-based program aimed at improving school culture and reducing bullying, violence, and suicide. The initiative aligns with national guidelines for preventing these issues and promoting student mental health.

Rachel’s Challenge centers around five key themes: looking for the best in others, dreaming big, choosing positive influences, speaking with kindness and starting a chain reaction of kindness. The program will feature a series of school presentations and a community event led by Rachel’s Challenge.

These events aim to spark a “chain reaction of kindness and compassion,” encouraging students, staff and community members to make positive choices, foster inclusivity and build a supportive school environment.

The events will take place on the following dates:

* Monday, Nov. 18, 2024: Saucon Valley Middle School

* Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024: Saucon Valley High School (including a Community Event at 7 p.m.)

* Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024: Saucon Valley Elementary School

Founded in honor of Rachel Scott–the first victim of the 1999 Columbine High School tragedy–Rachel’s Challenge promotes kindness and acceptance to create a more positive and inclusive school environment. The district said it is proud to take a leadership role in promoting kindness, compassion and positive change in the school community and beyond.
