Lower Saucon Township Police used a recent news release about an alleged township ordinance violation to remind residents that they are required to register their home alarm systems with the department.

Police said the fire alarm that went off was at a home in the 2500 block of Kings Mill Road, and was “not registered as required.”
The owner of the home was issued a non-traffic citation for the alleged violation, which occurred in late November, and which police noted “carries up to a $1,000 fine.”
“Residents are urged to be aware of township ordinances, which can be located on the (township) website,” police added.
The ordinance (Chapter 53 of the Lower Saucon Township Code) states, in part: “Any person who desires to own, operate, lease or maintain an alarm system in the Township shall file a registration permit. This permit shall be obtained from the Township at Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 18015. The permit shall be completed and a copy shall be made available upon request or clearly posted at the protected site.”
