Lower Saucon Township Police say a man who allegedly drove nearly 45 mph above the posted speed limit on a township road while children were standing along it waiting for a school bus to pick them up has been charged with several offenses.
In a news release issued Tuesday, police said Stefan Victor Jacoby, 20, of the 6000 block of Rt. 378, Upper Saucon Township, was stopped shortly before 9 a.m. Monday for allegedly speeding in the 1300 block of Seidersville Road.
Police said an officer stopped Jacoby after speaking with two children who were waiting for a school bus. One of the kids alerted the officer to Jacoby’s car when he “exclaimed that a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed coming down the hill,” according to the release.
According to police, Jacoby was determined to be traveling at 79 mph in a posted 35 mph zone, and his license was under DUI-related suspension at the time.
After he granted permission for officers to search his vehicle, police said a digital scale with the word “WEED” and a “crude” drawing of a marijuana leaf on it as well as a glass jar containing a plastic bag with several small pieces of marijuana in it were found.
In addition to possession of drug paraphernalia, police said Jacoby has been charged with reckless driving, speeding and driving on a suspended license.
