Est. Read Time: 2 mins

If you love fine food, American history and fall leaves, you might want to register for a bus trip to Hyde Park, N.Y., which the Hellertown Area Library is sponsoring and Saucon Source publisher/editor Josh Popichak will be attending.

WHEN: Friday, Oct. 23, departure at 8 a.m., returning at 7 p.m.

The itinerary for the all-day trip includes a sumptuous three-course lunch at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA), as well as a visit to Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Westchester County mansion, Springwood.

The Culinary Institute of America is a prestigious cooking school located in Hyde Park, N.Y.

The CIA counts many internationally famous chefs among the ranks of its graduates, including Anthony Bourdain, Andrew Zimmern, Cat Cora and Sara Moulton.

The bus trip will arrive at the school at about 11 a.m. for an 11:30 luncheon at CIA’s American Bounty restaurant, which is described on its website as an establishment with “a focus on the seasons and products of the Hudson Valley.”

“Contemporary and traditional regional dishes are brought to life…in an honest and flavorful way,” it says. “Rounded out with a first-class American wine list and comfortable warm service, this casually elegant restaurant sets the stage for an unparalleled dining experience in New York’s Hudson Valley.”

The Oct. 23 lunch menu is as follows:

After lunch, the group will travel to the home of one of America’s most famous presidents for a tour of its museum and library.

The bus will depart from the parking lot next to Dewey Fire Company at 8 a.m., returning at approximately 7 p.m., with colorful fall foliage expected along the drive to the Hudson Valley.
