Chicken Products Recalled Due to Salmonella Concern

Giant Food Stores announced Monday that following a U.S. Department of Agriculture Public Health Alert, it has removed from sale select Oven Cravers brand frozen, raw stuffed and breaded chicken products due to possible Salmonella contamination.

The following products are included in the recall:

Giant said it has received no reports of illnesses to date.

Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, which is one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses.

Salmonella infections can be life-threatening, especially to those with weak immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy. The most common manifestations of salmonellosis are diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever within eight to 72 hours. Additional symptoms can include chills, headache, nausea and vomiting that can last up to seven days.

Customers who have purchased any of the recalled products should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to any Giant for a full refund.
