A Lower Saucon Township woman who’s received numerous citations from township police in recent years because of wandering cows was issued another one early Saturday, township police said Monday in a news release.

According to police, Christine Hess, of the 1900 block of Waldheim Road, was cited under the township’s nuisance ordinance for failure to keep her animal confined.

Officers were called to Flint Hill Road at 1:40 a.m. for a report of cows in the road, and at the scene met with a witness who’d already managed to coax the bovine back into its pasture.

Prior to that it “was reported that the cow was walking in the middle of the road,” police said.

According to a story recently published by Channel 69 News a 75-year-old Kutztown woman was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital when the car she was driving struck a loose cow in the 600 block of Topton Road in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, late Thursday.

The cow was also badly hurt in the accident and was euthanized, it was reported.
