A Lower Saucon Township motorist was charged with a violation of the state’s school bus stopping law at an intersection in the Society Hill Development Feb. 12, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release Monday.
According to police, Stephen Bingham, of the 1800 block of Mansfield Street, allegedly traversed and failed to stop at the intersection of Chancellor Street and Pine Court while a Saucon Valley school bus had its red lights and stop sign indicator in use at 3:30 p.m.
Bingham was cited under the PA Motor Vehicle Code for the violation “Meeting or Overtaking School Bus,” police said.
The penalty for a conviction under the state’s school bus stopping law includes a 60-day driver’s license suspension, a $250 fine and five points on the motorist’s driver’s record.
