A 17-year-old boy was charged with DUI Feb. 14 police said, after he was allegedly found to be driving with alcohol in his system following a traffic stop on Fire Lane in Lower Saucon Township.

According to a news release, the teen was stopped after he allegedly made two turns without using turn signals and drove over the 25 mph speed limit in the area of Black River Road and Fire Lane shortly before 3 a.m.

Police said the boy was also charged with being a minor operating a vehicle with alcohol in his system.

Charges have been forwarded to juvenile court, they added.

In Pennsylvania, the legal blood alcohol content (BAC) for minors is 0.00 percent.

According to the Pennsylvania Juvenile Delinquency Records Handbook and Expungement Guide, “a suspension of operating privileges is required for three months for a conviction for the offense of minor prohibited from operating with any alcohol in system.”

Also, punishment “may include probation, institutionalization, or paying a fine,” according to the website ShragerDefense.com, which lists “Consequences of an Underage DUI Arrest in Pennsylvania” on a webpage about the subject.

Police did not say what the arrested teen’s BAC was allegedly determined to be.
