Lower Saucon Township Police are investigating a phony bomb threat they said caused local businesses to be evacuated last month.

In a news release issued Monday, police said an unidentified man called Dollar Tree, 3689 Rt. 378, on the evening of Feb. 27 and told the store’s manager “your store is gonna go boom boom.”

Bethlehem Township Police Department’s K-9 unit responded to the scene shortly before 9 p.m. and their bomb dog subsequently cleared the store, detecting nothing, police said.

Police, with assistance from Se-Wy-Co Fire Company, evacuated the south end of the Saucon Square shopping center as a precaution, the news release indicated.

Anyone with information about who may be responsible for the threat is asked to call township police at 610-317-6110.
