A pair of men who were seen by passing motorists walking along Bingen Road with what appeared to be a handgun Monday evening caused “some alarm, with drivers passing by and seeing the gun,” Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the scene at 6:55 p.m. and found that Joseph Matthew Webster, of the 2000 block of Leithsville Road, Lower Saucon Township, and Kurt Stelzer, of the 1000 block of Third Avenue, Hellertown, were actually carrying black Airsoft handguns, along with a knife.
Webster was also allegedly found in possession of marijuana, police said, and is being charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, disorderly conduct and providing false ID to law enforcement.
Stelzer is charged with disorderly conduct, police said.
Their charges will be filed in District Judge David W. Tidd’s court, police added.
